Japan’ s Oldest Places in Asakusa New!!

Together with our guests from Belgium, we explored Asakusa area. We took the oldest subway in Japan Ginza line to get there. Then we visited Kamiya bar and had a glass of famous Denki Bran liqueur. We also visited Asakusa underground shopping street where a movie “Perfect Days “was shot. Finally, we passed by Hanayashiki amusement park. All three places are the oldest establishment in Japan in each category.

We visited many world heritage shrines and temple. We were impressed by the many beautiful architectures, sculptures, lanterns, buddist statues and nature. For lunch, we enjoyed a set meal of yuba and noodles which are local specialty.

Family from UK visit Hokusai's tomb in Asakusa

On October 9 after long flight from London, family from UK visited Hokusai’s tomb in Asakusa. Short sentence is engraved on its grave stone like “Good old man mad about picture paintings”. Hokusai is famous for its woodblock printing picture “the Great Wave” and according to the Family, Hokusai is the most well-known Japanese in UK. Following is their pictures in front of the Temple of Hokusai’s tomb, plus the one taken at Ueno Toshogu Shrine.

An American family enjoys a Tokyo day tour before embarking on a Japan cruise

 At Hamarikyu Gardens, they were deeply impressed by the contrast between the traditional Japanese garden with its pond and the surrounding skyscrapers. At the Pokémon Center in Nihonbashi, they bought many character goods requested by grandchildren and friends. For lunch, they challenged themselves to eat soba noodles using unfamiliar chopsticks.  In Shibuya, they actually crossed the famous Scramble Crossing, Tokyo's top tourist spot, making for a fulfilling day.
