We received a thank-you email from a Spanish couple we guided around Kamakura and Tokyo for three days with four guides, so we would like to share it with everyone.
Dear all,
We’ve been back from our trip to Japan a week now, and we are trying to assimilate all the experiences and good memories we encountered in our short time visiting such an incredible country. We will certainly be back soon.
We would like to thank Kashiwa Goodwill Association for arranging the volunteer guides to accompany us during our visits to Kamakura and Tokyo.
It was a pleasure to meet Mr Kurokawa, Mr Araki and both Ms Katori and Ms Nagata.
Thank you all for their kindness and their time, and the lovely memories we will always cherish.
On Friday the 28th November we met Yuki San, who was our Spanish speaking guide in our day visit to Kamakura. We had a great time and weather was really kind with us, making the Momiji colours in the temples we visited unforgettable.
Mr Kurokawa’s knowledge of Spanish was a great advantage to help us understand some of the cultural information he provided us with. We are also very grateful for the many pictures Yuki San took of us both, lovely keepsakes.
We visited lots of temples and got my Goshuins. We had a great kaiseki lunch experience and ended the day with a fantastic Zen Night Walk experience in Kenchoji temple. A memorable day visit to Kamakura, we will always remember.
On Saturday 29th November we met Yoshi San, on our visit to Asakusa, Ueno and Akihabara. The weather was also kind with us and we visited Senso-ji, walked through Kappabashi Hondōri Shopping Street where we bought some kitchen utensils for making tea, and a lovely old Kokeshi doll I will cherish.
We tasted lovely bread from a local shop and had a fantastic obanzai lunch.
In the afternoon we visited Ochanomizu Guitar Street to the delight of my musician husband, watched the trains over Hijiri Bridge and ended the day with a lovely visit to Amanoya for Amazake and sweets before visiting Kanda Shrine, bursting with local people. Another great day was had in the company of Mr Araki.
On Sunday 30th November we met Fuko San and Kahori San, on our visit to Harajuku and Shibuya. We visited Meiji Jingu, where we were witness to a wedding, Takeshita Street and Otā Museum. We had lunch in a Izakaya with lovely food. Overall we had a great experience sharing the views of the younger generation who showed us trendy and kawaii spots.
We had a coffee and a short playing guitar experience in the Fender Café, before heading to Shibuya where the girls helped me find a few souvenirs I wanted to get, and that without their help would have been impossible.
In return I still have to send you the Spanish cheesecake recipe (I will send it soon).
To wrap it up, we took some pictures in a Photo Booth in Shibuya Scramble which was a very memorable experience of the fun day we all had.
The whole experience with your Goodwill Association is one to remember, and we will be in touch again in our next visit to your wonderful country, Japan.
Thank you - Domo Arigato Gozaimasu
